STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Soon the Staten Island Mall will offer even more diverse cuisine options — with two new restaurants slated to open in the food court this fall, the New Springville shopping center announced this week.
On Wednesday, the the Mall officially reopened its doors to customers for the first time in nearly six months, with slightly more than half of all stores and eateries ready to go. The Mall had shuttered in March due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
During the reopening, the Staten Island Advance/SILive.com spoke with Jim Easley, general manager of the Staten Island Mall, who announced that two new restaurants would be opening in the food court in the near future.
Thai Bistro and Tahini Mediterranean Grill are both expected to open for business sometime this November, according to Easley.
The two new eateries will be located to the left and to the right of the existing Taco Bell location.
Additional details regarding menu items and pricing are not yet available.
WHAT’S OPEN NOW
While indoor dining will not return to New York City until Sept. 30, as Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Wednesday, Staten Island Mall shoppers still have a variety of options when it comes to choosing their meal.
In the food court, the following restaurants are currently open:
- Sarku Japan
- Green Leaf’s
- Charley’s Philly Steaks
- Taco Bell
- Chick-fil-A
- Popeye’s
Additionally, the Burger King located in the food court is expected to open on Friday, Sept. 11.
Though all indoor seating in the food court has been blocked off, customers can purchase food from any of the aforementioned eateries and walk a short way to the new outdoor dining area that has been constructed on the second floor of the Staten Island Mall parking garage.
The outdoor dining area, which currently seats about 60 diners, with room to expand capacity if necessary, is expected to remain open through the end of 2020.
In addition to the restaurants located in the food court, several food stands throughout the Mall are serving customers, including Crépes Du Nord, Cinnabon and Sofia’s Guac Bar, a spin-off of the popular Sofia’s Taqueria in Rosebank.
Tommy’s Tap & Tavern, Shake Shack and Chipotle, all of which have their own separate entrances along the exterior of the Mall, are also open for take-out and outdoor dining.
