Life gets so hectic sometimes it helps to have an assistant. With the Echo Show 5, that’s essentially what you’ll be getting: A remarkably resourceful buddy who’s always down to help you with your errands and to-do list—all you have to do is ask. As one of Amazon’s early Prime Day 2020 deals, Prime members can get this truly marvelous smart display at a major discount—and that’s just where the fun begins.

For a limited time, if you log in or sign up for a free 30-day trial for Prime (it costs $12.99 after that), you can get the Echo Show 5, originally $90, on sale for $44.99, so you’ll be saving $45.01. The discounts don’t stop there, however, because Prime members can also bundle this fabulous device—which we dubbed best Amazon Echo smart speaker with a display—with not one, but potentially two other stupendous inventions: the Blink Mini or the TP-Link smart plug. Even better, it’ll only cost you an extra $5.

Ordinarily, neither device is this cheap. Here’s how it works: Prime members can purchase the Blink Mini, normally $34.99 and on sale for $24.99, bundled with the sale Echo Show 5, for $49.99 total instead of the $124.98 value price. The TP-Link smart plug, meanwhile, typically retails for $16.28, but can also be purchased as a bundled pair for $49.99 in your cart, down from its $112.97 value.

When it comes to the Echo Show 5, we’re big advocates. In testing, we relished its minimalistic design and the way it seamlessly blends in with the décor. This isn’t by accident: It’s unobtrusive form belies the graceful touches with which the entire device was thoughtfully crafted. Aside from its elegant aesthetic value, this smart speaker boasts a small-but-clear 5.5-inch screen, full Alexa capabilities, a built-in camera and more. We weren’t crazy about the camera (for privacy reasons), but you can disable it by saying, “Alexa, turn the camera off,” covering the camera physically with a built-in shutter or disabling Drop-In calling manually through the Alexa app.

Like peanut butter and jelly, the Echo Show 5 pairs well with either bundle add-on, but each device offers its own unique perks. The TP-Link smart plug, which is one of the best smart plugs we’ve ever tried, only takes up one outlet and can be a clever way to gain control over the electronic devices in your home. Compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, this unassuming plug is easy to set up on both iOS and Android and control via a largely intuitive mobile app. In testing, we were pleased that it never lost its connection to our WiFi network, but we found its lack of energy monitoring to be an issue—at least compared to the Currant smart outlet ($39.99), which nabbed the title of our overall top smart-plug pick.

Conversely, the Blink Mini could be a decent option for anyone looking for an indoor camera. Though we didn’t love the Blink Camera System ($79.99) we investigated—our testers found the set-up to be overly complicated and the device itself to be a bit buggy when using the live-streaming functionality—it’s possible the Mini version that’s on sale could be better: It has more than 18,000 reviews 4.4-star ratings on Amazon. For our money, though, the better bundle deal would be the smart plug. Either way, smart tech lovers are in for a treat this Prime Day.
