They’re back! Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, restaurant inspections have not been published since mid-March, but this week, they have returned.
Here are the food service establishment health inspections reported by the Onondaga County Health Department from the week of Sept. 1-5:

Creole Soul Cafe

Inspection done Sept. 1
Violations: Potentially hazardous foods not kept at 140 degrees or above (critical violation); foods not protected during storage, various food items stored on floor throughout kitchen, cases of seasoning stored on floor in restroom.
Employee and owner lack masks over mouth and nose while behind counter and in kitchen.
Single service takeout container stored on floor; microwave ovens not clean; exterior of cooking equipment and food bins not clean; interior of reach-in cooler has mold on shelving; dry storage shelving, fan guards and walk-in cooler in kitchen not clean; hand wash sink lacks hand soap and paper towels.
Floors, walls and ceilings not smooth, properly constructed, and dirty; lighting and ventilation inadequate, fixtures not shielded and ventilation hoods, ductwork, filters and exhaust fans dirty.
Fruit flies noted throughout establishment; live roaches and feces noted throughout kitchen, storage areas, behind equipment; mouse droppings noted throughout (pest control company was due to arrive the next day).

Violations: Metal shelving in walk-in cooler dirty; hand wash sink on main service line has been removed, will need to be replaced.
Vietnamese Noodle House

Inspection done Sept. 1
Violations: Potentially hazardous foods not kept at or below 45 degrees in cold holding (critical violation).
Food not protected from potential sources of contamination while in storage, food containers double stacked, fresh bean sprouts stored in undrained ice (corrected); ice scoop stored on top of ice machine; single service item without handle being reused in bulk foods; poly cutting boards noted with heavy staining and deep cuts.
Sanitizer not detectable in rinse water of dishwasher, water contained in sanitizer buckets dirty (corrected); wet wiping cloths dirty and heavily stained, not stored in sanitizer between uses; shelf above cook line and equipment panel knobs dirty; walk-in cooler fan guards dirty.
The Reef Restaurant and Bar

Inspection done Sept. 4
Violations: Flip top cooler not working property to keep stored foods at or below 45 degrees as required (critical violation, food in unit discarded).
Secondary containers and squeeze bottle food product unlabeled; dishwasher has sanitizer dispenser malfunction; shelves of some preparation tables, exteriors of some bulk storage units, exteriors of trash cans dirty.
Kitchen hand wash signs missing; floors and wall edges behind equipment at cook line dirty; cook line hood filters, portable fans and dish wash area dirty.
