It’s an exciting time for PlayStation fans, as the PlayStation 5 launches November 12. We’re also entering peak deals season for video games, with Amazon Prime Day 2020 next week and Black Friday following not too far behind. So, the question is: What kind of PlayStation deals can we expect throughout Amazon Prime Day? There will be tons of deals on games and accessories, though it may be quite challenging to find any PS5-centric deals.
We’ll be rounding up the best PS5 and PS4 deals for Amazon Prime Day 2020 as they go live on October 13. This will include deals from not just Amazon, but the confirmed competing sales at Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Newegg, and more retailers. For now, let’s take a look and what PlayStation deals to expect (and what not to expect) throughout Prime Day 2020.
PS5 preorders probably aren’t happening
Of course, there’s practically no chance of any deals on the PS5 on Prime Day. Additionally, we doubt any units will be available to preorder. The PS5 has been sold out for weeks, and there hasn’t been any indication that more stock will be made available before it launches on November 12.
We’d also be surprised to see PS4 console deals, since interest in the soon-to-be outdated system has died down this year. Also, retailers haven’t had much stock of any PS4 model but the Pro this year, and it seems even the Pro is becoming scarce.
PS4/PS5 Prime Day 2020 game deals

Game deals tend to be featured heavily on Prime Day at Amazon and other retailers. Each year, we see discounts on relatively new releases as well as beloved hits. With the PS5 on the horizon, we might see even steeper discounts on PS4 games than normal. We’re particularly curious to see the types of discounts offered on newer PS4 exclusives like The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima.
While we’d be surprised to see preorder discounts on upcoming PS5 titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, or Sackboy: A Big Adventure, it doesn’t mean that we won’t see some nice deals on multi-platform holiday releases. Big upcoming releases like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion, and Cyberpunk 2077 have already received $10 preorder discounts at Amazon–at one point Watch Dogs Legion was down to $40. It’s worth keeping an eye on any of the major releases you’re looking forward to this holiday.
It’s worth noting that PS4 versions of most major holiday games will come with free upgrades to PS5. So if you see a PS4 game for less than the PS5 version on Prime Day, it’s generally safe to snag the PS4 copy instead.
PS4/PS5 Prime Day 2020 accessory deals

It’s likely that we’ll see some solid PlayStation accessory deals during Prime Day 2020. Last year, DualShock 4 controllers were discounted to $40. We’d expect to see some really stellar discounts on the DualShock 4 this year as well; unfortunately, you won’t be able to use the DualShock 4 with next-gen games on PS5.
If you’re looking for PS5 accessory deals, it’ll probably be a tad more complicated. PlayStation isn’t taking as friendly of a backwards-compatibility approach for accessories as Xbox. That said, the PlayStation Gold wireless headset has been discounted in previous sales and will be compatible with the PS5.
PlayStation 5-exclusive accessories like the DualSense controller and Pulse headset probably won’t be discounted at any retailer.
PSVR Prime Day 2020 deals

The PSVR will be compatible with the PlayStation 5, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the Marvel’s Iron Man Bundle that released earlier this year for $350. Retailers may want to start clearing stock of that bundle, just like we’ve seen in the past with previous PSVR bundles.
PS Plus Prime Day 2020 deals

We have a separate guide detailing potential PS Plus deals on Prime Day 2020. The short version: We expect PS Plus to be discounted (likely to $40), but you can already snag a 12-month membership for $33.49 at Daily Steals with promo code GAMESPOTPSN.
